러시아-우크라이나 군사작전이 시작된 이후 여러 글로벌 기업이 ‘탈 러시아’를 진행한 가운데, 코카콜라와 스타벅스가 러시아에 상표등록 신청을 했다고 현지 매체가 보도했습니다. 코카콜라는 환타, 스프라이트, 파워에이드 등 총 8가지 상표 등록을 신청한 상태인데요, 법률사무소에 따르면 “이는 러시아에 복귀를 알리는 것이 아닌 상표를 3년 이상 사용하지 않으면 권리를 잃을 수 있기에 단순히 신청하는 것”이라고 밝혔습니다. 하지만, 다른 특허 전문가는 “코카콜라가 러시아에 복귀를 위해 상표 등록을 재신청한 것”이라고 분석했는데요, 코카콜라에 이어 스타벅스도 현재 상표 등록을 신청한 상태입니다.
Local media reported that Coca-Cola and Starbucks have applied for trademark registration in Russia, even as many global companies have been “exiting Russia” since the start of the Russia-Ukraine military operations. Coca-Cola has applied for the registration of a total of eight trademarks, including Fanta, Sprite, and Powerade. According to a law firm, “This is not to announce a return to Russia, but simply to apply because the rights can be lost if the trademark is not used for more than three years.” However, another patent expert analyzed, “Coca-Cola has reapplied for trademark registration to return to Russia.” Following Coca-Cola, Starbucks has also currently applied for trademark registration.
