폴라로이드(Polaroid)와 매그넘 포토스(Magnum Photos)가 파트너십을 체결하고, 세계적인 사진작가 엔리 카나즈(Enri Canaj), 짐 골드버그(Jim Goldberg), 뉴샤 타바콜리안(Newsha Tavakolian)과 함께 차세대 사진작가를 발굴하는 공모전 <오픈 콜(Open Call)>을 선보입니다.

이번 파트너십은 폴라로이드의 전문가용 즉석카메라 ‘폴라로이드 아이투(Polaroid I-2)’의 새로운 기술력과 장인 정신을 조명하고, 흑백 사진의 스토리텔링을 기념하기 위해 마련되었는데요, 매그넘 포토스 소속 사진작가들의 참여로 깊이 있는 스토리텔링과 복잡한 현실을 포착하는 접근 방식을 통해 차세대 사진작가에게 영감을 제공할 예정입니다.

공모전은 2024년 7월 15일부터 8월 12일까지 진행되며, 나이와 지역에 상관없이 누구나 지원할 수 있습니다. 제출된 작품은 매그넘 포토스에서 직접 심사하며, 선정된 사진가는 폴라로이드 아이투 카메라와 필름, 매그넘 소속 사진작가의 멘토링 기회를 얻게 됩니다.

Polaroid and Magnum Photos have partnered to launch the <Open Call> contest to discover the next generation of photographers, in collaboration with renowned photographers Enri Canaj, Jim Goldberg, and Newsha Tavakolian.

This partnership highlights the new technology and craftsmanship of Polaroid's professional instant camera, the ‘Polaroid I-2’, and celebrates the storytelling power of black-and-white photography. With the participation of Magnum Photos photographers, the contest aims to provide deep storytelling insights and capture complex realities, inspiring the next generation of photographers.

The contest runs from July 15 to August 12, 2024, and is open to all ages and regions. Magnum Photos will directly judge the submitted works, and selected photographers will receive a Polaroid I-2 camera, film, and mentoring from Magnum photographers.
