7-Eleven plans to sell Japanese snacks, beverages, and portable meals at convenience stores nationwide across the United States.
Owned by the Japanese company Seven & i Holdings, 7-Eleven in the U.S. aims to enhance its competitiveness and attract more consumers by adding Japanese snacks to its American menu offerings.
The Wall Street Journal reported, "Convenience stores historically relied on tobacco and fuel for revenue, but with declining cigarette sales and an expected slowdown in fuel sales, they are now focusing more on food to find alternative sources of income."
The new menu will include popular Japanese foods such as ramen, rice balls, and milk tea, distinguishing itself from the hot dogs, mini donuts, and coffee traditionally sold at U.S. 7-Eleven stores.
