Ever wished you had an extra thumb? Researchers have developed the “Third Thumbs” wearable device and conducted clinical trials. The results showed that 98% of participants could learn to use the device within minutes without significant discomfort, and almost all participants were able to use the device immediately. The device helps to increase the wearer’s range of motion and enhance their ability to grasp objects, expanding their carrying capacity. Users can perform complex multi-tasking tasks alone without assistance from others, even those that are difficult or impossible to do with one hand. Third Thumbs is worn on the opposite side of the palm from the thumb and is controlled by pressure sensors placed under the feet.
