A National Geographic documentary team recently announced that they found what is believed to be one of Irvine’s feet at the Rongbuk Glacier in the middle of Everest. Irvine, who was only 22 at the time, went missing along with his partner, George Mallory, during their attempt to summit Everest. While Mallory’s body was discovered in 1999, Irvine’s body, along with the camera he carried, remained elusive until now. Experts speculate that if Irvine’s camera is found, it could potentially rewrite the history of mountaineering.
