‘오징어 게임'으로 세계적인 주목을 받은 정호연이 테오 제임스(Theo James)와 함께 김지운 감독의 신작 영화 ‘The Hole’에 출연합니다.

‘The Hole’은 2017년 셜리 잭슨상을 수상한 편혜영 작가의 소설을 원작으로, 크리스토퍼 첸(Christopher Chen)이 각본을 맡았는데요, 영화는 한국과 미국을 배경으로 하며 영어와 한국어가 혼합된 다국적 스토리로 전개될 예정입니다. 

테오 제임스는 한국에 거주 중인 성공한 교수 오웬 역을, 정호연은 그의 아내인 샌디역을 맡았는데요, 교통사고 샌디를 잃고 오웬도 요양 생활을 이어가는데, 둘의 결혼 생활에 얽힌 충격적인 진실들이 밝혀지며 오웬의 회복이 위협받게 되는 이야기가 펼쳐집니다.

영화는 2025년 초에 미국과 한국에서 촬영을 시작할 계획인데요, 정호연과 테오 제임스가 어떤 연기 시너지를 보여줄지 관심이 쏠리고 있습니다.

Jung Ho-yeon, who gained worldwide recognition for her role in Squid Game, will star alongside Theo James in director Kim Jee-woon’s new film, The Hole.

The Hole is based on the novel by Pyun Hye-young, which won the Shirley Jackson Award in 2017, and the screenplay is written by Christopher Chen. The film is set in both Korea and the United States and will unfold as a multilingual story in English and Korean.

Theo James plays Owen, a successful professor living in Korea, while Hoyeon takes on the role of his wife, Sandy. After a car accident claims Sandy’s life and leaves Owen bedridden, he must continue his recovery, only to face shocking truths about their marriage that threaten his path to healing.

The film is scheduled to begin shooting in early 2025, in both the United States and Korea, and there is growing anticipation to see the acting chemistry between Hoyeon and Theo James.
